Weekly Update 09/30/11

Important Announcements:

*Our second unit test for math will take place on Thursday, October 6th. Students will have a study guide to complete for homework on Wednesday, October 5th.

*We are nearing the end of the first nine weeks! The end of the grading period is Friday, October 7th!

*Our class will be running the mile on Tuesday, October 4th.

*The Yankee Candle sale continues. The proceeds of this sale benefit the Brownsburg Education Foundation. The BEF helps with scholarships for graduating seniors and funds grants that benefit our classroom. The order deadline is Monday, October 10th.

*Are you interested in helping out with class parties and other classroom events? Please contact Shon Angle at wrightangle@sbcglobal.net.

Weekly Update 09/23/11

Important Announcements:

*Next week there will be a book fair in the library. Your child will be allowed to bring money and shop on Wednesday, September 28th. This is the ONLY day your child will be shopping during the book fair.

*Next week your child will not have any math homework. Please take the time to study both addition and subtraction facts using the fact triangles. Also, I will be sending home a chart on Monday about helping out. Your child will need to find one way each evening to help out someone. Please initial the chart to verify your child did this. The chart will be turned in on Friday. Thanks!

*Information was sent home about school pictures. School pictures will be taken Friday, September 30th. Smile!

*Dog Jog was today. The kids were SO excited about it! Thanks to everyone that volunteered to ensure that this year’s Dog Jog was a success!

*Money collected for Dog Jog is due on Wednesday, September 28th. Thanks!

*Our class will be doing the mile run on Tuesday, October 4th during P.E. (weather permitting). Mrs. Hopkins would like to have two parent volunteers help during this time. If you are available to help on Tuesday, October 4th from 2:10 – 2:50 p.m., please let me know! Thanks!

Important Announcements:

*The Dog Jog Convocation was today. Information about our upcoming Dog Jog on September 23rd was sent home today with your child. This is a great opportunity for students, and I know they love participating in the Dog Jog.

*I will be sending home mid-terms on Monday. Please review your child's grades, sign the mid-term, and return on Tuesday.

Weekly Update 09/09/11

Important Announcements:

*Today we had a lesson about the tragic events of September 11, 2001. A wonderful discussion developed among the students. They were very inquisitive, and I am sure will be coming home with questions for you. I read them two books: The Man Who Walked between the Towers by Mordicai Gerstein and September 12th: We knew everything would be all right by first-grade students of H. Byron Masterson Elementary in Kennett, Missouri.

*On Friday, September 16th we will be having our Dog Jog Convocation. This will give the students more information about our upcoming Dog Jog on September 23rd.

*Mary will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday, September 11th! Happy Birthday, Mary!

*Nicholas will be celebrating his birthday on Wednesday, September 14th! Happy Birthday, Nicholas!

Important Announcements:

*Discover Indy Books are due back on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

*Our first math test went well! Parts A and B are both graded. However, part A is the part that is assessed for a grade. Part B is graded and that information is used to help guide further math instruction. That is NOT entered in the grade book. Only Part A is entered.

*Ryann celebrated her birthday on Sunday, August 28th. Happy Birthday, Ryann!

*Jailynn and Michael will be celebrating their birthdays on Saturday, September 3rd. Happy Birthday, Jailynn and Michael!
