Weekly Update 12/21/12


Important Announcements:

*What a crazy start to our last day before break!  I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful class with loving, supportive families.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Safe travels over our break!  

*It was great seeing all of you at our music program on Monday evening.  Mrs. Dziadosz and the second grade did a great job with this program!  I thought it was adorable!  

*December Book-It Calendars were due today.  The January Book-It Calendar will be sent home when we return from Christmas Break.  

*After Break we will be reading the chapter book The Snow Day from the Black Lagoon.  The quiz that will be taken on Friday is a computerized test over the book in the Reading Counts program.  Your child took a computerized Reading Counts quiz over How the Grinch Stole Christmas! today.   

*Spelling words were sent home today for the test the week we get back.  Even though it will be a four day week, we will still be taking the test on Friday. 

*Today is the last day of the second nine weeks grading periods.  Report cards will be available online starting Friday, January 11, 2013.   

*Your child brought home two important letters today.  One was an update on his/her Dibels testing that I did last week.  The other letter is an update on safety measures here at school.  Please make sure to read these carefully!  Thanks!

*Mark your calendars now!  Our class will be participating in the Micronauts program at the Challenger Learning Center on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. We will leave school at 9:00 a.m. and return at 11:30 a.m. For this mission, we will need at least 8 parent volunteers.  More information will be coming!

Important Announcements:

*We are saddened to say good-bye to Miss Berry.  We wish Miss Berry luck in her future endeavors and plan on keeping in touch with her.  

*In honor of the upcoming holiday, we are going to have some spirit days next week! 
Monday – Holiday Pajama Day
Tuesday – Holiday Hat Day
Wednesday – Red and Green Day
Thursday – Favorite Holiday Character Day
Friday – Holiday Socks Day

*December Book-It Calendars were sent home on Monday. These will be due back THIS Friday, December 21st!  This is for a reading grade.  

*Our second grade music program will take place on Monday, December 17th at 6:30 p.m.  Your child should report to the classroom at 6:15 p.m.  The kids have been working hard on this program, and I cannot wait to see it!

*Next week we will be reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  If you have a copy of the book at home, you may send it in with your child to use in class.

Weekly Update 12/07/12

Important Announcements:

*December Book-It Calendars were sent home on Monday. These will be due back on Friday, December 21st!  This is for a reading grade. 

*Our class will be shopping in the Santa Shoppe on Monday, December 10th.  If you want your child to participate, please make sure he/she brings his/her money on Monday.  Thanks!

*Miss Berry graduates on Wednesday, December 12th, and her last day with us will be on Friday, December 14th

Important Announcements:

*Book-It Calendars for November were due today.  On Monday, we will be sending home the Book-It Calendar for December.  These will be due back on Friday, December 21st! 

*Santa Shoppe will be coming to our school the week of December 10th!  Look for more details to be coming home soon!

*Miss Berry graduates on Wednesday, December 12th, and her last day with us will be on Friday, December 14th.

Important Announcements:

*Book-It Calendars are due back Friday, November 30th.  This is part of your child’s reading grade!

*We need your help to bring cheer to our Brownsburg families.  We are asking you to assist the Brownsburg Cheer Committee by donating the following items: bath soap, boxed dinners, canned fruit, canned meat, deodorant, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, napkins, soup, pasta, rice.  Donations will be accepted between Monday, November 26th and Friday, November 30th.  Thanks!

*Our fabulous PTSG is hosting a family movie night on Friday, November 30th at 6:00 p.m.  The movie that will be shown is Rio.  Pizza, snack, and prizes will be included.  Advance tickets are $5 per family and will be available Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th at 8:30 a.m.  Tickets may be purchased at the door for $6.  

*Thanks to all of the parents that helped make today’s Fall Party fabulous!  We appreciate all of the donations, planning, and time that went into making it successful!  We are thankful for you!

*Our Fall Party will take place Wednesday, November 21st at 2:15 p.m.

*We sent home letters this past Wednesday asking for a snack donation for a special Thanksgiving activity on Wednesday, November 21st.

*Your child is bringing home a turkey that needs to be decorated and returned to school by Monday.  See the letter attached to the turkey for more information.  

*There will be NO Spelling next week.  New words will be sent home before Thanksgiving Break.

*The children did a great job honoring Veterans during our Veteran’s Day convocation today.  We are thankful for our Veterans!
*Mrs. Kraus will be in our ro

Important Announcements:
*Come Read With Me will take place Thursday, November 8th from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.  It will be a fun-filled evening!  Hope to see you there!

*Spirit Days Next Week in honor of Come Read With Me
Monday – Wear stripes
Tuesday – Hat day
Wednesday – Dress like a friend or group of friends
Thursday – Dress like your favorite book character day

*Book Fair will be Monday during Specials.  Your child may bring money to purchase books during this time.  This will be our only shopping time during the school day.  Book Fair will be open during Come Read With Me.

*In honor of Veteran’s Day, we will have a special program on Friday, November 9th at 9:15 a.m.  You are invited to join us in honoring our Veterans.  Wear red, white, and blue!

*Book It calendars will be sent home on Monday.  Your child will need to read 15 minutes four times per week.  Color the days on the calendar that he/she reads.  Make sure to have your child return the calendar to school on Friday, November 30th.  It is worth 32 points.  Happy Reading!
