Weekly Update 05/11/12

Important Announcements:

*I am very proud of the way the students behaved today during Track and Field. I saw many students using good teamwork and sportsmanship. Thanks to all of the parents that volunteered and a special thanks to Mrs. Hopkins for a great day!
*We have one more week until the end of the school year, but we still have lots of work to do! You will probably not be seeing as much homework next week, but there will still be some assignments including practicing for our plays and reviewing math.
*Our class won the award for the fewest overdue books!  They earned a special treat and bookmark from Mrs. Holstein for this accomplishment.
*Our class made some great gains this year in the area of reading.  I will be sending home a summer reading calendar for students to track the minutes they read early next week.  I encourage you to have your child read, track the minutes, and return to school at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.  If this is completed, he/she will be invited to a special luncheon!
*Next week we will be working on reader’s theater plays.  We will be performing these plays on Friday, May 18th from 10:45 – 11:15 in our classroom.  You are invited to our final performances of the year!
*There will be a school-wide awards program on Friday, May 18th starting at 9:15 a.m.
*The staff of Delaware Trail has some talent!  We will be showcasing these talents on Friday, May 18th starting at 2:45 p.m. in the gym.
*This will be the last time I will be updating the blog for this current school year.  Personally, this year has been filled with many ups and downs for me with the decline of my father’s health and then his passing away.  Professionally, this has been one of the best years I have ever had.  It has been a joy and honor working with you and your child this year.  I believe that this group has taught me just as much as I have taught them.  They have brightened many of my days, and I was truly blessed this year by each and every one of them.   Thanks so much for a great year, and I hope to keep in touch with you!  I will be checking my e-mail regularly over the summer if you need anything!
