Important Announcements:
*Mark your calendars! We are going to be doing a special activity in honor of Dr. Seuss. We will be studying The Lorax the week of March 5th. We will be working with Mrs. Flynn’s class during this unit. On Saturday, March 10th, we will have an optional class outing to the movie! A permission slip and more information were sent home with your child on Friday, February 24, 2012. Please read over it, complete it with your plans for that day (even if you are NOT planning on attending), and return it to school no later than Wednesday, March 7th! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
*New Book-It calendars were sent home on Thursday, March 1st. Use the calendar to track the number of minutes your child reads. If he/she reads for twenty minutes, he/she can color in the date on the calendar. In order to earn the free personal pan pizza coupon from Pizza Hut, your child will need to read for twenty minutes, four times a week. The calendar is due back on Friday, March 30th. This is the last month for Book-It.
*ISTEP+ testing takes place next week for grades 3-5. While we will not be testing, our schedule will change slightly due to testing. On Monday, March 5th our specials time will be from 9:45 – 10:25 a.m.
*Friday, March 9th is our trip to the Challenger Learning Center for Micronauts! We are leaving school right at 9:00 a.m., and we will return in time for lunch. If you are a parent attending the trip with us, I will be sending you home a reminder letter next week. Thanks!
*Because of our trip to Micronauts, we will be taking our reading test on Thursday and not Friday like we normally do. We will still have our spelling test on Friday.
*Does your child have a talent he/she would like to share with the school? Our annual DT’s Got Talent show will be held on Thursday, April 12th at 6:30 p.m. If your child is interested in participating, the sign-up form is due on Wednesday, March 14th.
