Weekly Update 01/09/15

Important Announcements:

*Congratulations to Sa’Nyah, Addy, and Justin!  These students have leveled up to the next level on the Super Improvers Wall in the classroom.  I have several students who are SO close to leveling up.  Students earn stars for showing improvements in academics and behavior.  Once ten stars are earned, he/she levels up.  Way to go, Sa’Nyah, Addy, and Justin!

*Report cards are available online starting TODAY!

*Second grade teachers have set the deadline of all second graders having 100% mastery on addition math facts by the end of January.  After that, we will focus our attention on subtraction math facts. Math facts practice was assigned this week for homework, and it will continue to be assigned throughout the rest of the year.

*Our next math test will take place on Friday, January 16th.  A study guide will be sent home on Thursday evening for homework.

*With cold weather upon us, the chance of closing and being delayed is a real possibility as we have seen this week.  Just a reminder that if we delay on a Wednesday, there is no early release.  Dismissal will occur at our regular time of 3:40.

*Mark your calendars!  The second grade music program will take place on Tuesday, March 17th!  The children already started working on the music this week.  It is going to be a great show!

*Continue to work on addition and subtraction math facts.  Make sure to use those fact triangles that were sent home, or you can practice for free online at www.xtramath.org.

*If anyone is able to come in and volunteer next week, send me an e-mail and let me know what day and time works best for you!  Thanks!

*I believe in building relationships with the children both inside my classroom and outside the classroom.  If your child participates in any extracurricular activities (sports, dance, theater, etc.), or has any other events that he/she would like to invite me to, please let me know, and I will do my best to come!

*The blog will also be updated with this information as well so if you need to see it again visit http://misswhisman.blogspot.com .
