*Attention Parents:

Track and Field Day will be Friday, May 20th this year. We need you! Please sign up in your classroom during data/art show night, May 5th, or email me at shopkins@brownsburg.k12.in.us. You can also call or send in a note with your child stating your preference on what time to work (all day, am, or pm). Your child(ren) loves this, so please volunteer. I will need 60 or more parents. Weekly Update 04/15/11

It was filled with excitement and ticks! I think the students learned a lot, and I know they are now pros at spotting ticks. Thanks to: Mrs. Delong, Mr. and Mrs. Fultz, Mr. Garnett, Mr. Hogan, Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Lyons, Mrs. Mercier, Mrs. Ratliff, and Mrs. Wilson. *We did not run the mile this week due to our field trip. Students will be running it on Thursday. *I am definitely learning a great deal about Everyday Math this year and how to make the transition smoother for you as parents and help your child learn at home. Unit 8 was a learning experience! I have made copies of the fraction cards that we used in class a lot. Feel free to use these cards as you see fit. We used them to find equivalent fractions and to compare fractional amounts. You can play Fraction top-it with your child. Important Dates: Thursday, April 14th - Field trip to McCloud Nature Park; Mile Run in P.E.; DT's Got Talent Talent Show 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 15th - Crazy Hair Day to benefit Race for the Cure $1.00 donation Saturday, April 16th - Race for the Cure Monday, April 18th - Snow Make Up Day; Students attend Wednesday, April 20th - Twin Day Spirit Day; Snacks sold for $0.50 Wednesday, April 27th - Autism Presentation for Autism Awareness Month Thursday, April 28th - Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night at the Avon restaurant Thursday, May 5th - Data Night/Art Show/Book Fair Friday, May 20th - Track and Field (wear Dog Jog t-shirts) Friday, May 27th - Last Student Day Important Announcements: *We have our field trip to McCloud Nature Park on Thursday. We will be going rain or shine so please dress appropriately. Students will need to wear tennis shoes because there will be some hiking involved. If it storms, we will cancel. Please make sure that your child has a sack lunch that can be disposed of at the park. We will leave school by 10:00 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. *Next Friday is crazy hair spirit day. Students may wear crazy hair for a $1.00 donation towards Race for the Cure. Crazy hair includes hair paint. Students that participate will be able to walk around the track at the soccer field with Mr. Strube and Mrs. Hicks. *I would like to thank our room mother Mrs. Lynch for organizing our Spring Party. I know that the students had a great time. I would like to thank these parents for attending the party and helping: Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Garnett, and Mrs. Ratliff. I would also like to thank all of you that donated snacks and other things for the party. We REALLY appreciate it! *Here is a letter from the parents that were at our party: Parents, THANK YOU! We had an overwhelming response to donations for Miss Whisman’s Spring Party. We collected enough for there to be snack-time opportunities, lead by Miss Whisman.
