Important Announcements:
*April is Autism Awareness month. A special guest speaker will come to our class on Monday, April 23rd to talk to the students about autism.
*Our field trip to McCloud Nature Park is on Friday, April 27th. Your child will need to have a sack lunch that day. If your child is purchasing one from the cafeteria, he/she will be able to pick it up that morning. If you are chaperoning, you will need to be here at 9 a.m. We should be returning to school no later than 2:30 p.m. Last year we did encounter ticks while we were at McCloud. You may want to take some precautions to help this year. Wearing light colored clothing, long sleeved shirts and pants, a hat or bandana, and using bug spray are strongly encouraged by me.
*Because of our field trip next week, our spelling and reading tests will take place on Thursday, April 26th. Since we are testing a day early, there will be no challenge list given next week. If your child scores 100% on the pre-test on Monday, he/she is excused from spelling for the rest of the week!
*End of the year Dibels testing will take place today and continue through next week. This is where I will test your child’s fluency (we have been practicing all semester!) and retell. Scores will be available at Data Night.
*Our annual data night and art show is taking place on Thursday, May 3rd starting at 6:30 p.m. This is a time for your child to show you his/her school work, data, and some art work. I look forward to seeing you there!
*Speaking of the art show, Ms. Whitton is looking for volunteers to help mount artwork and put it in frames. If you are interested in helping her as early as next week or during the art show, please contact her at swhitton@brownsburg.k12.in.us.
*Mrs. Hopkins is looking for volunteers for track and field on Friday, May 11, 2012. If interested in helping her at a station, please e-mail at shopkins@brownsburg.k12.in.us or call her at 317-852-1062 with the following information: whether you can work a.m., p.m., or all day; your phone number; your e-mail address. Volunteers help to make the day a successful one!
