Weekly Update 01/28/13

Important Announcements:

*I apologize for posting this late!  

*We will be taking the January SRI this Thursday, January 31^st.  I am excited to get an updated lexile score for your child! 

*Our school will be practicing a lock down drill on Thursday, January 31^st.  I will be discussing this with the class on Wednesday to prepare them and alleviate any anxiety.  I will NOT be discussing recent events with them.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! 

*The January Book-It Calendar was sent home on Tuesday, January 8^th.  It is to be returned THIS Thursday, January 31^st for a reading grade!  The February Book-It calendar will be sent home on Friday, February 1^st. 

* Time for Teachers will be held on Monday, February 11^th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.  This is a time where your child can do a fun-filled activity with a teacher after school.  You were notified on Wednesday, January 23^rd if your child won, and the money is due back on Wednesday, January 30^th.  This is a fun-filled event for your child and for the teachers! 

*The book fair is returning to Delaware Trail.  It will take place February 4^th – 8^th.  Our class will be going on Monday, February 4^th during our specials time.  If you would like for your child to purchase books, please make sure he/she brings money on Monday, February 4^th!  Thanks!

*If we have a two hour delay on a Wednesday, students will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:40 p.m. 

*Mark your calendars now!  Our class will be participating in the Micronauts program at the Challenger Learning Center on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. We will leave school at 9:00 a.m. and return at 11:30 a.m. For this mission, we will need at least 8 parent volunteers.  More information will be coming!

Important Announcements:

*In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day there will be no school on Monday.

 

*Even though next week is a four day week, we will still be having a reading and spelling test on Friday. 

*We are getting new math journals on Tuesday.  I sent home your child’s old math journal home today.  There are several pages we never got to so feel free to have your child work on these pages at home to reinforce some of the skills that were taught during units 1 – 6.

Important Announcements:

*Welcome Back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful break.  I sure did, but I missed the kids so much!  I am so happy to be back for the start of our third nine weeks!  

*The January Book-It Calendar was sent home on Tuesday, January 8^th.  It is to be returned on Thursday, January 31^st for a reading grade!

*Report cards are available online starting today!   

*Your child brought home a Time for Teachers sheet on Wednesday.  Time for Teachers will be held on Monday, February 11^th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.  This is a time where your child can do a fun-filled activity with a teacher after school.  In order to participate, you will fill out the form with your child’s top three choices.  You will place a bid on the form that you would be willing to pay if your child’s bid wins.  The bid sheets are due back to school on Wednesday, January 16^th.  You will be notified on Wednesday, January 23^rd if your child won, and the money will be due back on Wednesday, January 30^th.  This is a fun-filled event for your child and for the teachers! 

*Book orders were sent home today.  If you would like to order books, fill out the forms and return to school no later than Friday, January 18^th.  If you write a check, please make it payable to Scholastic Book Clubs.  You can also place your order online.  Our class code is: GVCWL.  

*Our next math test will take place on Friday, January 18^th.
