Important Announcements:
*Laylabelle celebrated her
birthday on Sunday, April 13th.
Happy Birthday, Laylabelle!
*WOW! Our second grade raised $344.03 for Relay for
Life! I am so proud of this
accomplishment! Congratulations!
*The permission trip for our
field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo on Thursday, May 29th was sent
home with your child this week. There is
NO COST for students to go on this trip.
If you are interested in chaperoning the trip, there is a $10 charge. Permission slips are due back no later than Friday, April 25th.
*We are scheduled to take our
Scholastic Reading Inventory on Wednesday, April 23rd. If you are interested in volunteering to
listen while a child reads his/her test out loud we would love to have you join
us from 9:15 – 10:00! Let me know if you
are planning on coming in to help!
*On Wednesday, April 23rd
from 10:00 – 11:00, Mrs. Brown from
Hendricks Mental Health will be presenting to the class about autism. April is Autism Awareness month, and Mrs.
Brown does a great job with this presentation.
I am excited she will be doing this!
*On Friday, April 25th,
Mrs. Kraus will be teaching a lesson to the class from 9:00 – 9:30 on this
month’s character trait: acceptance.
*Did you know there is a Box
Tops competition currently going on at our school? The class that brings in the most Box Tops by
the end of April gets to duct tape Mrs. Greene to a wall! How fun would that be?!?!?!? Bring in those Box Tops and label them with
our class’s name!
*I have decided to extend the
reading competition until the end of April.
I REALLY want to eat pizza with your child! Spring Break would be a great time to read
some books. Encourage your child to
continue to read and take Reading Counts tests while at school!
*For our poetry unit, your
child will need to bring in a picture of something he/she loves. It can be a picture of your family, a family
pet, a favorite animal, favorite food, favorite hobby, etc. Your child will need to put his/her name on
the back of the picture so that it can be returned. Pictures should have been brought in by
Thursday, April 17th. If you
have not sent in a picture, please do so by MONDAY. Thanks!
*At this point in the year,
your child should have mastery of all of his/her addition math and subtraction
math facts. Mastery would be 100% on the
five minute weekly time test. Practice
those math facts! In third grade your
child will be expected to have mastery of multiplication and division facts. I have already introduced multiplication and
division to your child, and we will be working more on multiplication and
division facts in upcoming chapters.
*Our next school-wide goal
for behavior tickets is 25,000.
*If you are interested in
ordering a Delaware Trail Relay for Life t-shirt, order forms were sent home
this week. Please return the order form
and money no later than Friday, April 25th.
*This year's Relay for Life
will be Saturday, May 17th - Sunday, May 18th from 9:30am-9:30am on the Town
Hall Green. I will be doing Relay for
Life this year in honor of all of my family members that have fought cancer,
but especially in memory of my father that lost his battle to pancreatic cancer
in January of 2012. This is a family
friendly event so join our team! It's
going to be a lot of fun and we hope you will join in to make a huge
difference! You can join our team by

*Track
and Field has been moved to Friday, May 30th. The rain date will be June 2nd. Mark your calendar! We are in need of about 50 more parent
volunteers for track and field. If you
are able to help, please contact Mrs. Hopkins, our gym teacher, and let her
know!
*I believe in building relationships with the children both
inside my classroom and outside the classroom.
If your child participates in any extracurricular activities (sports,
dance, theater, etc.), or has any other events that he/she would like to invite
me to, please let me know, and I will do my best to come!
*The blog will also be updated with this information as well
