Weekly Update 05-22-15

Important Announcements:

*We had a BLAST today at Track and Field!  We worked hard and had a lot of fun!  Your children may be slightly worn out tonight!

*Congratulations to these students for qualifying for the pizza party with Miss Whisman for the reading competition: Elijah, Lila, Faith, Caleb, Braeden, and Griffin!  I am so proud of these students for reading as much as they did during March and April!  Way to go!  The pizza party will take place on Tuesday, May 26th during lunch.

*Our schedule for the last day of school is as follows:
9:00 – 9:45 Awards Convocation (I would have contacted you if your child was receiving a special award at this convocation.)
11:30 – Lunch
12:00 – Recess
2:00 – 2:30 Specials
2:30 – 3:15 Teacher Talent Show (if the school earns it with our behavior tickets)

*On the last day of school I will make time for students to sign yearbooks and track and field t-shirts or Dog Jog t-shirts.  IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS, make sure he/she has his/her yearbook at school that day and his/her t-shirt.  It would be helpful for your child to bring in a permanent marker as well.

*Your child will not have any reading homework next week.  He/she will continue to have math homework.  Our final math test is on Wednesday, May 27th.  After that, we will not have any homework!

*Sometime next week I will send home the summer reading challenge.  I encourage you to have your child participate in this!  If your child returns the calendar next school year, he/she will receive a special treat!  I have attached a copy of the calendar to this e-mail in case you need another copy.

*Continue to work on addition and subtraction math facts over the summer!  Make sure to use those fact triangles that were sent home, or you can practice for free online at www.xtramath.org.

*I believe in building relationships with the children both inside my classroom and outside the classroom.  If your child participates in any extracurricular activities (sports, dance, theater, etc.), or has any other events that he/she would like to invite me to, please let me know, and I will do my best to come!

*The blog will also be updated with this information as well so if you need to see it again visit http://misswhisman.blogspot.com .
