Weekly Update 05-08-15

Important Announcements:

*Congratulations to these students for qualifying for the pizza party with Miss Whisman for the reading competition: Elijah, Lila, Faith, Caleb, Braeden, and Griffin!  I am so proud of these students for reading as much as they did during March and April!  Way to go!

*I sent home book order forms today.  This will be the last order of the year!  If you are interested in ordering, please order online or submit your order to me by Friday, May 15th.  This should give us enough time for the order to be shipped by the end of the school year.  It is a great time to stock up for the summer!

*Next week will be our LAST reading story from the book and our LAST spelling test!

*We will be having spirit days next week all week long leading up to our Relay for Life event on
Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th.  The spirit days are:

Monday – Wear college gear

Tuesday –Pajama day

Wednesday – Dress as your favorite Disney character

Thursday – Dress is Hawaiian gear

Friday – Dress in your superhero gear

*Our zoo field trip will be on Tuesday, May 19th.  We will leave school at 9:00 a.m. and return by 2:00 p.m.  If your child did not purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria, he/she will need to bring one from home.  All students will need to wear their dog jog t-shirts.  They are the neon yellow ones with a purple paw print on the front.  I am looking forward to a great trip!

*Track and Field is scheduled for Friday, May 22nd.  Your child will be given a t-shirt to wear that was provided by the PTSG.  Your child will also need to bring a water bottle that he/she can use throughout the day.  There will be NO recess and NO specials the day of Track and Field.

*Continue to work on addition and subtraction math facts.  Make sure to use those fact triangles that were sent home, or you can practice for free online at www.xtramath.org.

*If anyone is able to come in next week to volunteer, send me an e-mail and let me know what day and time works best for you!  Thanks!

*I believe in building relationships with the children both inside my classroom and outside the classroom.  If your child participates in any extracurricular activities (sports, dance, theater, etc.), or has any other events that he/she would like to invite me to, please let me know, and I will do my best to come!

*The blog will also be updated with this information as well so if you need to see it again visit http://misswhisman.blogspot.com .
